The Numbers Matter

We are happy to provide general guidelines. We have based these guidelines on a cost of goods sold as being set to 30%. This is an average number but is generally accepted.

Basically what you can do is take 1) your operating expenses / .70 and that will result in a reasonable break-even number. The spreadsheet below represents these figures.

If you would like to play with additional hypothetical figures for your area, use the download link and fill in your numbers in the green cells. The bottom portion of the spreadsheet will show you the new break-even points and the resulting profit margins. We have calculations built into the grey section in the bottom that will auto calculate for you.
